Our world is full of mysterious things. Some of them can't be described even by scientific experts. Others constitute a group of illusions. Illusion world is great, not many people have deep knowledge about it. Everybody knows that when a spoon or a fork is dropped into water it seems broken, although in objective reality it isn't. There is a wide range of other similar optical illusions. Watching different types of illusions is a wonderful way of spending time for people with inquisitive mind. Optical illusions are characterized by visually perceived images that differ from what they are in object reality. Our eyes gather information that is processed by brain. As a result we obtain a percept that doesn't match to what is really displayed. The sorts of the visual illusions are different according to the object that creates this optical illusion. For instance, literal illusions form images that differ from the objects that formulate them. You have probably seen the pictures where at the first sight you observe a certain object, but when you look more attentively you acknowledge that this image is created with the use of other objects. An example of this literal visual illusion is a vase formed by two faces. Such images are usually named ambiguous pictures. It is sometimes really hard to notice another image on the same image. Physiological illusions have certain effect on our eyes and brain and as a result we have an illusion of different parameters – brightness, color, size, movement. For example, there are pictures where some objects seem to be of different size or color, when in reality they are the same. Muller-Lyer illusion with arrows is a good example of this type of visual illusions. Cognitive optical illusions make the mind made not correct conclusions from what the eyes see. These are paradoxical and impossible things like Penrose triangle and impossible stairs, and hallucinations as well. Visual illusions represent a great entertainment for all the people. Furthermore, they help us to have a look at our world from the other side. In result your mind will become more flexible that will certainly help you in future life. |
